Job Vacancy: Architectural Technician

Dunfermline, Scotland | Permanent | Full-time

Our in-house Technical design team is responsible for establishing all the infrastructure that connects a new development and enables a sustainable community to thrive. They are also the people responsible for the layout of our sites, ensuring we are creating places that work for every aspect of our customers’ lives.


As our Architectural Technician you will prepare and submit detailed design and construction information, prepare technical viabilities, secure Planning and Building Regulation approvals, and provide technical support throughout the build process.



What you will do:

  • Oversee design & technical requirements for developments from site appraisal to site closure

  • Provide architectural support and technical guidance for regional site and office-based operations

  • To co-ordinate and manage the issue of all technical documentation

  • Maintain technical documentation for the standard product portfolio

  • Liaise with local authorities to obtain Planning & Building Warrant approvals

  • Produce site layouts and design packages for both Planning and Building Warrant approval processes

  • Coordination of affordable contract technical information

  • Tender, appoint and manage external consultants

  • Review and approve sub-contractor design elements for manufacture

  • Design efficiently and understand the commercial and programming impact of design decisions

  • Discharge the Designers responsibilities under CDM regulations

  • Liaise with engineers to ensure accurate technical solutions are produced and value engineering has been completed

  • Manage projects in-line with business forecasts and targets

  • Deliver sustainable design solutions and sustainable communities for our customers

  • Deliver the highest level of service to other business functions

  • Review and approval of Sales literature and brochures

  • Prepare and maintain Legal plans

  • Any other duties as required by the Design & Planning Manager and Technical Director


What you will have:

  • Computer literate with an excellent knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Experience or willingness to learn Revit, SketchUp and Photoshop

  • Experience producing housing and apartment working drawings and providing technical guidance and support

  • Understanding of Planning policy and processes desirable

  • Understanding of Building Standards regulations & NHBC technical guidance

  • Understanding of affordable home delivery & HFVN design requirements desirable

  • Understanding of Health and Safety/CDM regulations

  • Experience of planning and development within the housebuilding industry

  • A dynamic attitude towards delivering and promoting sustainable and environmentally considered design
