🥇 #FIGHTracism winning entry 🥇

🏆 Competition 🏆

Diversity Scotland is delighted to announce the winning entry in our #FIGHTracism competition in support of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

We'd like to thank all of the young people and their families for taking the time to enter our competition.

The theme for this year's International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is youth standing up against racism

If we're to truly take an anti-racist stance then it's important that we engage our young people in the conversation, particularly as 25% of children in UK primary schools are from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background.

As adults we should be working to ensure that as these young people enter the workforce racism is a thing of the past.

We're delighted to announce the winning entry is by Amelie, age 10, from Glasgow.

In her accompanying statement Amelie said:

"I am really interested in the fight against racism and this picture is my hand being up to stand against racism. At my school I have many friends of all backgrounds and colour does not matter. Some of my friends sometimes get bad things said to them out of school and I find this so sad that not everyone is nice to my friends. The way forward is to educate my generation and youth of today NOW to stop racism in the future."

The judging panel was struck by the importance Amelie placed on education and the creative way that she integrated so many powerful statements into the design.

To support Amelie to continue to produce such creative pieces we're delighted to present her with a prize of Daler Rowney Simply 115 Piece Art Set with Easel

Congratulations to Amelie on her fantastic contribution!
